About Sustainable Communities Wales

HOW IT WORKS

Sustainable Communities Wales (SCW) is a programme of free support and advice available to communities across Wales to help improve the energy efficiency of the buildings they run.

What support is available?

If your community organisation participates in SCW, you will receive multiple levels of support, depending on the buildings you manage and the opportunities that are available.

  1. Survey and energy analysis
Each community will receive an on-site energy survey and an analysis of their energy bills. This will help you understand how you currently use (and where you currently lose) energy. You will receive a full report to keep, which will include recommendations on the opportunities you have to save energy and increase efficiency.
  2. Feasibility studies and specialist support
Some communities may wish to make significant changes (such as the installation of renewable energy technologies) to their buildings. To ensure that these dreams become reality, we can offer funded feasibility studies and time with a technical specialist to draw up plans, ideas and scope out opportunities.
  3. Interest-free loan
For those who are making larger changes to their community buildings, Robert Owen Community Banking is offering an interest-free loan to SCW participants. By understanding your energy efficiency journey, and offering a realistic financial health check of your organisation, you can ensure the project is affordable and you don’t bite off more than you can chew.
